Do You Need A Piano Transportation?

Transportation of pianos should be done by a professional to prevent injuries to people as well as damage to the instrument. Cost often seems to be rather high, but bear in mind that the person or company doing the removal not only have the know-how, but they also carry the risk of damage to the instrument during the transportation process.

Preparations And Requirements For Piano Transportation

Here are a few preparations to do and requirements to be met when arranging the piano transportation with us

When consulting with us for a quotation for piano transportation make sure that you know the amount of steps or stair cases involved in the relocation. This will only ensure that we will have the correct equipment and appropriate number of staff available. However, if there are alternative routes at the collection and delivery addresses to and from the old and new locations with less steps or obstacles, we would like to know. It will save time and effort, and decrease the cost of the piano transportation.
Make upfront measurements to ensure that the piano will fit in, and can be relocated. This include measurements of sharp turns and narrow entrances.
Remove obstacles like coffee tables, sofas, boxes, and other furniture blocking the way.
Remove all objects like books, vases, and ornaments from the top of the piano before collection.
Clear instruction should be provided for delivery.
Please ensure that a responsible person is present at collection and delivery, to verify the condition of the piano and that the piano was safely collected and delivered.
Unless other arrangements were made, a 50% Deposit of the amount agreed upon for the piano transportation is required before collection of the instrument. The outstanding Payment will be settled at delivery by means of COD Payment, Bank Deposit Slip or Proof of Electronic Transfer.

Piano Transportation Policy

The date and time of collection and delivery will be confirmed.
We will, at our discretion, refund the cost or replace or repair, free of charge, any damages occurred while in transit.
Once the piano is offloaded in its place, we will no longer accept responsibility for any damages.
Piano transportation shall be deemed to take place when the piano has been delivered to the specified delivery point.
We may in absolute discretion withhold delivery of the piano pending risk of payment.
If delivery of the piano is not accepted as agreed, we will claim payment in accordance for expenses incurred.
If the piano has to be put in storage by us, the cost shall be borne by the client and an additional amount for storage fee added to the amount due.

Short Distance Piano Transportation

At collection the instrument will be removed from its location by being put on and tied to a piano trolley to be taken to the vehicle. The trolley is removed as the piano is lifted onto the vehicle. The piano gets covered with a piano cover and tied to the vehicle to ensure that it is stable and will not fall over while being transported.

When delivered to its destination, the piano will be untied, uncovered, off loaded from the vehicle, put on and tied to the piano trolley and delivered to its new location where it gets removed from the trolley.

This is the procedure for short distance transportation of an upright piano. During the short distance transportation of a grand piano, all external removable parts such as the legs and the lyre are removed separately packed and covered to be fitted again at delivery.

Long Distance Piano Transportation

Apart from the difference in distance, the piano might need to be packed and crated to go in to a truck or container.

This will be the procedure for long distance transportation of upright pianos. During the long distance transportation of a grand piano, all external removable parts such as the legs and the lyre are removed separately packed and covered to be fitted again at delivery.
